Building the model

The model is based on Mark Porters design and full information can be found on his web site.

Rather than give a step by step discourse on how to build the model I have presented a series of photographs which show the various stages. Each part of the model has it's own page which can be selected from the options above.

I thought I knew better than Mark and built the model out of light ply. This produced a model, which is more than twice the weight Mark quotes for his machine. A fellow modeller has built a model using the materials specified by Mark and that model weighs 6lbs ready to run with 2 x 8 cell 3000 Ni-mi cells.

The model as originally built had twin lift ducts and this can be seen in the photos. After finding that this was very inefficient I removed the front duct.

The skirt was originally fixed using a bolt and strip of wood to form a clamp. there is a weight penalty so this was removed at a later stage and double sided tape used instead. This has proved to be extremely reliable in operation and allows the skirt to be removed and replaced without changing the double sided tape.
